Can you use a club night as an immersive art-platform? I think so. I started a club music night to explore this idea. It is a tribute to Arthur Russell and creative disco. Also, it is a collaboration with Ashby Lee Collinson and the Dunes nightclub.
We set up a face painting area with a video camera that projected live onto the screen behind the dance floor. This allowed dancers to indulge in intimate images of their friends while they celebrated themselves to life-loving disco and house. The live image was huge and somehow innocent and disarming.
